In the previous posts I talked about my last visit to the CosmoCaixa museum in Barcelona. I have already talked about the museum itself and showed photos of some of the animals that live there.
In this post I will tell you about my experience at the T-Rex Trix exhibition, where there was exhibited a real skeleton of a Tyrannosaurus Rex called Trix and could be visited until May of this year. This was the reason why I made this visit to the museum, I like dinosaurs and everything related to them, being the T-Rex my favourite.
In order to access, you had to show your entry so that the reviewer could read the code with a machine. Once done, you could go up the stairs until you reach the exhibition hall where the first thing you saw was the impressive skeleton.

This was the first time I saw a life-size skeleton of a T-Rex and I was drooling, I was thinking about that I wanted a small docile dinosaur XD There was a woman who told someone to imagine the skeleton in the living room and you could see people with their mouths open as they watched it.
To be a fossil, it is very well preserved and it was impressive to see the size of the bones. Although there are bones that had to be reproduced when the originals were not found in the excavation, the reproduction of the originals is so well achieved that it's difficult to differentiate them.
Around the skeleton there was text where you could better understand how and how long this specimen lived. It's speculated that it is female because of the size of the hip bones and lived around 30 years, a very long life since it's the only skeleton that has been found at this age. It seems that they lived between 24 and 26 years.

Esta fue la primera vez que veía un esqueleto de T-Rex a tamaño real y se me caía la baba, no hacía más que pensar que quería un dinosaurio a tamaño reducido y que fuese dócil XD Hubo una mujer que le comentó a alguien que se imaginase el esqueleto en el salón de casa y podías ver a la gente con la boca abierta mientras lo observaba.
Para ser un fósil, está muy bien conservado e impresionaba ver el tamaño de los huesos. Aunque hay huesos de los que se tuvieron que hacer una reproducción al no encontrar en la excavación los originales, la reproducción de los mismos está tan bien conseguida que es difícil diferenciarlos.
Alrededor del esqueleto había texto donde podías entender mejor cómo y cuánto tiempo vivió este ejemplar. Se especula es hembra por el tamaño de los huesos de la cadera y vivió alrededor de 30 años, una vida bastante larga ya que es el único esqueleto que se ha encontrado de esta edad. The skull is gigantic and the teeth are quite large and sharp. She suffered an infection in the lower part of the muzzle, causing erosion of the bone. It seems that she also suffered the bite of another T-Rex in the head, causing holes in the lower jaw, although she survived. The only wounds that didn't heal were scratches on the top of the nose.
El cráneo es gigantesco y los dientes son bastante grandes y afilados. Padeció una infección en la parte inferior del hocico, ocasionando erosión del hueso. Parece que también sufrió el mordisco de otro T-Rex en la cabeza, ocasionándole unos agujeros en la mandíbula inferior, aunque sobrevivió. Las únicas heridas que no llegaron a sanar fueron unos arañazos en la parte superior del morro.
The tail measures several meters long and if you look closely at the third picture, you can see that it has a defect in one of the vertebrae, which is more deteriorated than the others. It seems that it's something from birth or that it was damaged at an early age.
La cola mide varios metros y si os fijáis bien en la tercera fotografía, podréis observar que tiene un defecto en una de las vértebras, que está más deteriorada que las demás. Parece que es algo de nacimiento o que se dañó en una edad temprana.
She also suffered the fracture of four of her ribs.
También sufrió la fractura de cuatro de sus costillas.
The feet are huge and look at those sharp fingernails. Trix had a fracture in the right hind leg.
Los pies son enormes y fijáos en esa uñas tan afiladas. Trix tuvo una fractura en la pata posterior derecha.
I observed the size of the little arms, which I have always found very funny. I think that in life, she could have had enough strength in those little arms despite the size compared to the rest of the body and could do a lot of damage with those claws like hooks.
Me fijé en el tamaño de los pequeños bracitos, que siempre me han parecido muy graciosos. Creo que en vida, podría haber tenido bastante fuerza en esos bracitos a pesar del tamaño en comparación al resto del cuerpo y podría hacer mucho daño con esas uñas como garfios.
There were exposed some fossil remains and there were also some activities in which to participate. I didn't take photos, although I saw everything. In the activity of the first photo you had to find fossils hidden among stones. It was quite complicated since they resemble at first sight.
There was also a scale with a table that indicated the kg. that a T-Rex needed to eat and for how long it it would fed him/her. People used to ride in a group and could have served as food for a day and half on average.
In one corner there was a static bicycle in which when pedaling, you could check if you ran faster than a T-Rex. I couldn't drive it because it was closed. Too bad, I would have liked to try it.

Habían expuestos algunos restos fósiles y también habían algunas actividades en las que participar. No hice fotos, aunque sí lo miré todo. En la actividad de la primera foto tenías que encontrar fósiles escondidos entre piedras. Era bastante complicado ya que se parecen a simple vista.
También había una báscula con una tabla que indicaba los kg. que un T-Rex necesitaba para comer y para cuánto tiempo le alimentaba. La gente solía subirse en grupo y podrían haber servido de alimento para un día y medio de media.
En una esquina había una bicicleta estática en la que al pedalear, podías comprobar si corrías más rápido que un T-Rex. No me pude subir porque tenía el paso cerrado. Lástima, me hubiese gustado probarlo.
