As I said in previous posts, I have been attending a course in dog grooming. I started in mid-September and on the 17th February I made the final exam. Now I'm waiting for marks and degree, so when I have everything, I will let you know here.
The course has been with practices 100% and studied theoretical at home. I have learned to bath, drying and to brush dogs properly, hygiene trim, to cut hair with pet clipper and blade attachment combs , nail clipping, ear plucking and cleaning, cutting paw hairs, do haircuts in scissors and stripping on different dog breeds ... There are many things that are done in the salon to groom dogs so beautiful. So I will talk about my evolution during these five months with photos that I have taken and my teacher has taken of me.
I have been thinking a lot about it, but finally you're going to be able to see who is the person behind the screen. If I decided to publish these photos around here is because most of them have been posted on the facebook page of
Artero International Academy, the dog grooming school I have been taking this course to. That said, let's begin.
I started on the 14th September 2015 and practice classes were in a dog salon in my town. The first day of school you always go with the uncertainty of what will you do and how it will be. I started strong. My teacher has two dogs, a giant Poodle that at that time was 6 months old and it was large already and a 2 years old Kerry Blue, so to begin with, she taught me to brush with the giant Poodle. Although it looks easy, it wasn't because she was a big dog and although she was well maintained and hardly was tangled, it took me a long time to brush her completely.
After brushing was time for the bath. The teacher taught me how to properly bath a dog and as Poodles have quite hair and is curling, it was pretty hard for me to bath the half of the dog because I didn't get that water penetrated inside to wet her well and get a good sudsy and besides, the dog moved around a lot. And of course, then she had to be dried and brushing stretching her hair and you have to use different dryers to dry the dog completely. But I managed to finish all the work and for the first time that I brushed and bathed a dog of that type and size in a professional way, I wasn't bad at all. Como ya comenté en anteriores entradas, he estado asistiendo a un curso de peluquería y estética canina. Empecé a mediados de Septiembre y el día 17 de Febrero hice el examen final. Ahora estoy esperando a que me den las notas y el diploma, así que cuando lo tenga todo, lo haré saber por aquí.
El curso ha sido con prácticas 100% y la teórica la estudié en casa. He aprendido a lavar, secar y cepillar perros correctamente, hacerles la higiene con la máquina, corte a máquina esquiladora y recalce (peine en la máquina esquiladora), cortar uñas y los pelitos de los plantares, quitar los pelitos de los oídos, hacer cortes de pelo a tijera y a stripping a distintas razas de perros... Son muchas cosas las que se hacen en la peluquería para dejar a los perritos guapos. Así que os voy a hablar sobre mi evolución durante estos 5 meses con fotos que he ido haciendo y la profesora me ha hecho a mi.
Me lo he estado pensando mucho, pero finalmente vais a poder ver quién es la persona que está detrás de la pantalla. Si he decidido publicar estas fotos por aquí es porque anteriormente ya se publicaron la mayoría de ellas en la página de facebook de
Artero International Academy, la escuela de peluquería canina con la que he hecho el curso. Dicho esto, empecemos.
Empecé el 14 de Septiembre de 2015 y las prácticas las hice en una peluquería canina de mi pequeña ciudad. El primer día de clase siempre vas con la incertidumbre de qué vas a hacer y cómo va a ir. Empecé fuerte. Mi profesora tiene dos perras, una Caniche gigante que en aquella época tenía 6 meses y ya era grande y una Kerry Blue de 2 años, así que para empezar, me enseñó a cepillar con la Caniche gigante. Aunque pareciese fácil, no lo era porque era una perrita enorme y a pesar de que estaba bien cuidada y apenas tenía nudos, tardé bastante tiempo en cepillarle por completo.
Después del cepillado tocó el baño. La profesora me enseñó cómo se baña correctamente un perro y como los Caniches tienen mucho pelo y además rizado, me costó bastante hacer la mitad de la perrita porque no conseguía que el agua penetrase dentro para mojarle bien y poder conseguir una buena jabonada y como postre, la perrita se movía mucho. Y como no, después hay que secar y cepillar estirando el pelo y hay que utilizar distintos secadores y expulsadores de agua para secarle completamente. Pero conseguí terminar todo el trabajo y para ser la primera vez que cepillaba y bañaba un perro de ese tipo y dimensiones de forma profesional, no me fue mal del todo.
