#cuarentenaconlilipalet

A few days after starting the quarantine because of the Covid-19, the photographer @lilipalet had the great idea to create a challenge in which every two days she proposed a theme to photograph for the next two days with the hashtag #cuarentenaconlilipalet and thus practice with indoor photography while we were in quarantine. The photos that most caught her attention were shared in her Instagram stories. If you don't know her, I encourage you to see her work and the tips she gives so that everyone can learn photography easily.

Below I will share the photos I took.

Pocos días después de empezar la cuarentena por el Covid-19, la fotógrafa @lilipalet tuvo la genial idea de crear un reto en el que cada dos días proponía un tema para fotografiar durante los dos  días siguientes con el hashtag #cuarentenaconlilipalet y así practicar con la fotografía en interiores mientras estábamos de cuarentena. Las fotos que más le llamaban la atención las compartía en sus historias de Instagram. Si no la conocéis, os animo a que veáis su trabajo y los tips que da para que todo el mundo pueda aprender fotografía de forma fácil.

A continuación voy a compartir las fotos que hice.

Theme 1: A window ● Tema 1: Una ventana 

I didn't know how to approach this theme because the windows in my apartment aren't striking or there are simply no beautiful views, so I opted to take advantage of the reflection of the window with the blind lowered (the views overlook the balcony of the lightwell that we use to hang clothes up and the views would have been very ugly). I know the photo is not flashy.

No sabía bien cómo enfocar este tema porque en mi piso las ventanas no son llamativas o simplemente no hay vistas bonitas, así que opté por aprovechar el reflejo de la ventana con la persiana bajada (las vistas dan al balcón interno del patio de luces que usamos para tender la ropa y habría quedado muy feo) . Sé que la foto no es llamativa.

Theme 3: A coffee maker ● Tema 3: Una cafetera

I couldn't do theme two, it was about photographing a pot and at home we don't have pots or natural flowers.

I tried to take photos of the coffee maker, but I couldn't photograph anything nice and I opted for the option that Lili gave us to photograph a cup of coffee. I remembered this nice set of cups.

El tema dos no pude hacerlo, se trataba de fotografiar una maceta y en casa no tenemos macetas ni flores naturales.

Intenté hacer fotos de la cafetera, pero no logré fotografiar nada bonito y opté por la opción que Lili dio de fotografiar una taza de café. Me acordé de este bonito juego de tazas.

Theme 4: A water tap ● Tema 4: Un grifo de agua

I had to do several tests. When I uploaded the photo, I realized that I should have better focused the drop of water.

Theme 5: From inside ● Tema 5: Desde adentro

These are the wonderful views that I have from my balcony. Buildings and more buildings and very little sky.

Theme 6: Textures ● Tema 6: Texturas

This texture is from the trunk of my big Tió de Nadal. Tió is a log that would be the equivalent of Santa Claus in Catalonia. Lili Palet shared this photo in her stories.

I decided to edit the black and white photo to give it more drama.

Theme 8: A lock ● Tema 8: Una cerradura

This lock belongs to a small wooden trunk that I bought a few years ago as a piece of furniture for my dolls. Lili Palet shared this photo in her stories.

My initial idea was different, finally I chose to photograph the slotted spoon playing with perspective and black and white editing. Lili Palet shared this photograph in her stories.

Theme 11: Out of focus ● Tema 11: Desenfocado

Background completely out of focus, I even got a slight bokeh. Now that I look at the photo, I could have also blurred the marbles and got a completely different photo.

This photograph was difficult to take because I didn't know what to photograph with this subject. While I was washing dishes I had the idea to catch those drops that are left in the sink.

I thought a lot about the idea until I thought about using these little lights inside a glass.

Theme 16: A cup of coffee ● Tema 16: Una taza de café

Since I already took a photo of a cup of coffee, I decided to photograph another cup that is very special to me. My little one crossed the rainbow in April of last year.

My first walk after 50 days without leaving home. The first sunset I had seen for so many days because the sun is never seen from my apartment. All those people who went for a walk that day had their story to tell.

I was thinking about the type of photography I wanted to do. Finally I photographed the vegetables inside the pot while it was cooking. This ended up as a puree.

The original photo is in color although when uploading it to Instagram I decided to edit it in black and white. It had been a long time since I had taken a high-key photo.

Theme 21: Sky ● Tema 21: Cielo

I would have loved to take a much more beautiful photo than this one, but I have already told you that from my balcony you only see buildings and very little sky. During those days I didn't leave home and this is what I was able to photograph for the challenge. I like gray and rainy days.

Me hubiese encantado hacer una foto mucho más bonita que esta, pero ya os he dicho que desde mi balcón solo se ven pisos y muy poco cielo. Durante esos días no salí de casa y es lo que pude fotografiar para el reto. Me gustan los días grises y lluviosos.

And with this photo the challenge ended. Since it was going to be the last theme, Lili wanted to meet the people behind the screen.

You will not find many photos of me on the Internet. I don't even like being photographed and I don't take selfies either. Normally I don't have half a face covered, I put my hair like this on purpose for the photo XD

What did I take away from this challenge? It helped me to endure the quarantine better, thinking how to photograph the proposed topics. I would have never photographed a tap of water on my own, for example, so it was a good exercise to gain more experience in photography.

Right now I am following another challenge proposed by Lili Palet, although I have entered quite late and will not be able to complete it entirely. I'll talk about it in another post.

Y con esta foto acabó el reto. Como iba a ser el último tema, Lili quería conocer a las personas que hay detrás de la pantalla.

No vais a encontrar muchas fotos mías en Internet. Ni tan siquiera me gusta que me hagan fotos y tampoco me hago selfies. Normalmente no llevo media cara tapada, me puse el pelo así a propósito para la foto XD

¿Qué me llevo de este reto? Me ha hecho llevar la cuarentena mejor, pensando cómo fotografiar los temas propuestos. Jamás habría fotografiado un grifo por mi cuenta, por poner un ejemplo, así que ha sido un buen ejercicio para coger más experiencia en la fotografía.

Ahora mismo estoy siguiendo otro reto propuesto por Lili Palet, aunque he entrado bastante tarde y no podré completarlo entero. Ya os hablaré de ello en otra entrada.
