Course of Recycling furniture - March (Part 2) · Curso de Reciclaje de muebles - Marzo (Parte 2)

In my previous post I showed the work I made in March in the course on recycling furniture. As I said, now I'm going to show you the work my classmates made.

I will refer to my classmates by their initials because I don't like to use real names on Internet.

Let's start with A's chair, who hasn't come for weeks and we don't know if we ever see him again. He seemed quite interested in the course, so we hope he's fine.

His chair was pretty boring, so he painted it with acrylic paint in white with a greyish tone colour and the metal structure with synthetic paint. Later he sanded the seat and backrest to give an aged appearance and put a transfer that never touched because didn't reappear in the workshop again. Our teacher is finishing it in his place and that's what it looked like the last day of class in March.

I like the images A chose for the transfers and anecdotally, as I'm the only one who can read English, I had to translate the text before deciding whether put it or not.

The next chair is M's, the other woman who attended as pupil. She found a job before Easter and she can no longer attend the course, so I hope she does well.

Her chair was light brown colour, very boring and a little unstable. To give it life, she completely sanded it and then painted with white acrylic paint. When this part was finished, she applied several transfers with floral patterns and our teacher wrote a text on with permanent marker. M also did an aged appearance and applying acrylic on key points to give it personality. Next you can see photos.

Then we have H's stool, who did the same work as with A's chair. Although H didn't seem to like how it was turning out, it seems to me interesting. I like the image he chose for the transfer because of the message it gives.

This stool is also unfinished and our teacher is finishing it because H is on holiday in his country and will not come again until the 14th of this month.

Next we have J's stools. These stools were really boring and he has given them an incredible personality. Seats are made of plastic and legs are made of metal, so J painted everything with acrylic paint. Manually, he drew the letters with permanent marker. From my point of view, they are really cool.

And finally in individual work, we have JM's chair, full of woodworm holes (bugs are dead). This chair is painted as M's one. Also applied transfers with floral patterns and sanded it with sandpaper.

Then he made some fake antique with acrylic and ask me to write a text he had chosen.

And finally we come to the group work. Together we have been working a wooden chest drawer. It has been painted with acrylic paint and sanded to give it an antique look.

I painted the green and yellow drawers and between M and I chose the patterns which will be put on the colour drawers with the technique of transfer.

Last Thursday we finished the chest drawers, so in the post I will write next month about the work we have done in April, I'll show you photos of it.

My chair is almost finished, so I'm working individually on a stool like H's, to which I'm going to put Japanese images.

I hope you enjoyed this second part.

See you soon!

  1. Hi Lily!
It must be very disappointing for the teacher to have so many students drop out, such a shame. I do like the wooden chairs with the floral and the writing and also the CC stools they look really great. The chest is coming along very nicely too. It's quite amazing what you can do with old furniture when you use some imagination, and I'm looking forward to seeing yours completed.
A speciial well done to you and those who are sticking with the course!
    Big hugs,
    X

    1. Hi Sandi!
      Thanks you :)
Yes, is a shame to see so many students drop out. As you see, we're only 4 right now. Glad you like everything we do, old furniture is interesting and in part, I'm enjoying it because we have to use some imagination.
      Greetings ^^
