Last 11th September was released the 6th studio album of the Norwegian-German band Leaves' Eyes. As I mentioned in this post, I really wanted to have the album and listen to the new songs because this band is one of my favourites one.
I decided to order the album on EMP because they have an exclusive edition with a pendant and I received it in a few days with another pendant and a T-shirt that my mother bought in the store.

El 11 de septiembre salió a la venta el 6º disco de estudio de la banda noruego-alemana Leaves' Eyes. Tal y como comenté en esta entrada, tenía muchas ganas de tener el disco y escuchar las nuevas canciones ya que esta banda es una de mis favoritas.
Decidí pedir el disco en EMP porque venden una edición exclusiva con colgante y en pocos días llegó a casa junto a otro colgante y una camiseta que compró mi madre en esa tienda.

I like the cover very much and can be predicted the album is full of songs with a Viking touch. Without going any further, the album title, "King of Kings" talks about Harald Fairhair, Norway’s first king . For those who don't know this band, they are characterized by their songs telling stories about the Viking history and Norse mythology, giving us great lessons of these so exciting subjects.
La portada me ha gustado mucho y tal y como se puede predecir por la misma, el disco está cargado de canciones con toques vikingos. Sin ir más lejos, el título del disco, "King of Kings", trata sobre Harald Fairhair, primer rey de Noruega. Para los que no conozcáis esta banda, se caracterizan por hablar en sus canciones sobre la historia vikinga y mitología nórdica, dándonos grandes lecciones de estos temas tan apasionante.
I have the digipack edition and it has 2 CDs, one with the 11 songs of the album plus 2 bonus tracks and the second CD includes songs in acoustic and instrumental. In the booklet are the lyrics and photographs.
Tengo la edición digipack y tiene 2 CDs, uno con las 11 canciones del disco más 2 bonus tracks y en el segundo disco vienen canciones en acústico e instrumental. En el libreto vienen las letras de las canciones y fotografías.
The pendant was included apart. It has the shape of a Viking shield with the name of the band and the disc. It's bigger than my Mjolnir pendant, which is tiny.
And now comes the question, what is my opinion about this new album? Just fabulous, I think it's the best record they have released to date and stating that I love each and every one of their albums. I've read reviews where they say that the album has some filler tracks, that they don't like the instrumental track with bagpipes "Feast Of The Year" (which only lasts half a minute) or it is difficult to listen to even for fans of the band because of the big amount of folk and orchestral music that a single song has. From my point of view, the album is simply well-prepared and very epic and maybe that's why requires more than one listen if you don't like it enough the first time. In my case, I loved the songs since the first time I listened to them, including the instrumental track with bagpipes. I must also say that I really like folk music and that made it pleasing to listen to from the very beginning and every time I listen to it, I discover new elements that I had not paid attention before.
As I said, the album has many folk elements inspired by the Viking era, as usual in this band and something that has been developed from their beginning. On this occasion they have even had the collaboration of the "London Voice" choir (Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter) and the Russian Symphony Orchestra, giving an exquisite quality.
Favourite songs? I have several and it's always difficult to choose. This is my top 5 list (not in order of preference).

El colgante venía aparte. Representa un escudo vikingo, con el nombre de la banda y del disco. Es más grande que mi colgante del Mjolnir, que ya de por sí es pequeñito.
Y ahora viene la pregunta, ¿qué me ha parecido este nuevo disco? Simplemente fabuloso, creo que es el mejor disco que han sacado hasta la fecha y que conste que me gustan todos y cada uno de sus discos. He leído críticas en las que dicen que el álbum tiene canciones de relleno, que no gustan las gaitas del tema instrumental "Feast Of The Year" (que además dura medio minuto) o que es algo difícil de escuchar incluso para fans de la banda por la cantidad de música folk y orquestal que se puede llegar a encontrar en un solo tema. Bajo mi punto de vista, el disco es simplemente elaborado y muy épico y quizás es por eso por lo que requiere más de una escucha si no entra a la primera. En mi caso, las canciones me han encantado desde la primera vez que lo he escuchado, incluido el tema instrumental con gaitas. También he de decir que la música folk me gusta mucho y eso hace que haya sido placentero de escuchar desde el primer momento y cada vez que lo escucho, encuentro elementos nuevos a los que no había prestado atención.

And what about the second album? It has two acoustic tracks, one on piano and the rest are instrumental, although I must clarify that they are not completely instrumental because choirs are included in them. Still, it's a delight to listen to these songs without the voice of Liv Kristine.
If you like symphonic metal, lyrical female voices, folk music and the Viking theme, this album could definitely like you and make you discover this big band.

¿Y qué hay del segundo disco? En él vienen dos temas acústicos, uno a piano y el resto de temas son instrumentales, aunque he de aclarar que no son completamente instrumentales ya que los coros sí aparecen en ellos. Aún así, es una delicia escuchar los temas sin la voz de Liv Kristine.
Si os gusta el metal sinfónico, las voces femeninas líricas, la música folk y el tema vikingo, definitivamente este disco os puede gustar y descubrir a esta gran banda.
